New Mexico Weight Distance Tax (NM DTU)

For owners of vehicles that have a gross weight of over 26,000 pounds, a weight distance tax is needed for using highways in New Mexico. You may opt to pay it annually, but the distance tax normally has a due date of:

• April 30 (for the January 1 – March 31 quarter)
• July 31 (for the April 1 – June 30 quarter)
• October 31 (for the July 1 – September 30 quarter)
• January 31 (for the October 1 to December 31 quarter).
