Unified Carrier Registration (UCR)

If your truck operates in interstate commerce, you would be required to apply under the UCR Agreement. This Agreement allows states to collect fees from freight forwarders and brokers, to name a few, and these fees are determined based on how many qualifying commercial vehicles are present in the fleet.

Who should file under UCR?

The following are some of the categories that the UCR would be applicable to:

  • Brokers
  • Leasing companies
  • Freight forwarders
  • For hire motor carriers engaged in interstate commerce, or have a commercial vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight of minimum 10,001 pounds
  • For hire motor carriers engaged in interstate commerce that is used to transport over 8 passengers (inclusive of the driver)
